King of Schnorrers

King of Schnorrers, based on the novella by Israel Zangwill, is a biting musical comedy about the conflict between the ashkenazim and sephardim in East London during the 19th century, and about that eternally fascinating figure of Eastern European Jewish life, the schnorrer.

It received a New Jersey Council on the Arts Award (1979).
